Laboratory Assistant at Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA)

Job Title:  Laboratory Assistant – 3 Positions

Organisation: Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA)

Location:  Kampala

Reporting To: Quality Assurance Officers

Job Purpose: Provide support in all laboratory activities as need arises and ensure that the laboratory is in order.

Key Result Areas

• Prepare lab equipment in preparation for grading, cupping, sensory tasting and analysis.

• Handle all roasting and grinding of coffees as per set standards.

• Keep proper custody and record of equipment, chemicals and reagents in line with the Standard Operating Procedures.

• Prepare requisitions for lab materials, chemicals and equipment in line with established guidelines.

• Ensure that the laboratory is safe and clean.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience;

• A diploma in Food processing OR equivalent qualifications.  A certificate in Q and R grading will be an added advantage.

• At least 2 years working experience in a similar position.

Expected personal competences and skills

The successful applicants must have; 1. Teamwork skills; 2. Good communication skills; 3. Ability to pay attention to detail; 4. Computer skills.

Conditions of Service

The selected candidate will be contracted for three (3) years.  The successful applicant will be based at the national COE in Kampala.
