About NCHE:

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) was established under "The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001” for regulating and guiding the establishment and management of institutions of higher learning, regulating the quality of higher education, equating of qualifications and for advising government on higher education issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts day to day activities of licensing and accreditation of universities and tertiary institutions;
Works on the applications for the establishment of universities and other tertiary institutions in Uganda;
Assists in conducting research and publications in reputable journals and internationally recognized conference proceedings and other relevant policy bodies;
Assists the Senior Higher Education Officer to organize awareness workshops to inform universities and tertiary institutions on the merging issues regarding licensing and accreditation procedures;
Supports the Senior Higher Education Officer in preparing disseminative reports (visitations, inspections etc);
Conducts any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the superiors.

Expected Outputs:
Work activity plans;
Evaluation reports showing targets achieved;
Periodic unit reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Holds a Masters degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university;
Must have taught in a university for at least 2 years at the level of a Lecturer and above, or must have worked in as a Higher Education Official in a government department for 2 years;
Must have 2 -3 publications in peer reviewed journals;
Must be ICT literate;
Knowledge of project management is desirable;
Knowledge of International Standard Organizations (ISO) is desirable
